Pololo is lovely leather slippers made from soft, environmentally friendly and plant-tanned leather.
Approximately 80% of all leather is mineral-tanned - just a fancy word for tanning with harmful chromium salts. Pololo's slippers, on the other hand, are tanned with plant extracts and do not contain any potentially allergenic or carcinogenic substances often found in cheap chemically-tanned leather products.
Pololo's slippers have been thoroughly tested and found to be "harmless in terms of the possibility of skin irritation". In other words, neither the slippers nor the waste from them are harmful in any way.
The surface of the leather is not impregnated - this allows the leather to breathe optimally, but it also means that dark-colored leather may transfer color onto light-colored socks.
