Soap berries – also called soap nuts – are a natural alternative to traditional chemical-based detergents. They contain saponin, a natural soap substance that effectively dissolves dirt and removes grime. The berries are not only suitable for laundry, but also for cleaning, handwashing, shampoo, shaving foam and more. They are gentle on textiles and preserve colours and textures better than conventional detergents.

NOTE before use

Soap berries are completely natural and therefore contain neither bleach nor enzymes. This means that they do not remove difficult stains such as red wine, ketchup or berries on their own. These should be pre-treated before washing – either with mild washing-up liquid or a natural stain remover.

For white clothing, it is recommended to add 2 tbsp. soda crystals to the detergent drawer to counteract greyish tones, as soap berries do not contain optical brighteners or lightening agents.

How to use soap berries

Each pack contains small cotton bags in which the berries are placed. The bag is placed directly in the washing machine together with the clothes. Simple, natural and effective!

• 4 berries for lightly soiled clothes
• 5–6 berries for normal washing
• 6–8 berries for heavily soiled clothes
• Works at 30–60 °C – soak the berries for short programmes
• Can be reused up to 4 times when washing below 60 °C (1–2 times at 60 °C)
• Combine with soda crystals for whiter clothes
• Add a few drops of essential oil for fragrance
• Use natural stain remover to pre-treat difficult stains
