Is a bed bumper necessary?
At Naturebaby.dk, we highly value practical, healthy and organic bed bumpers for babies, children and the expectant or new mother. That's why we also sell bed bumpers for children's beds here on our webshop. You will find a wide range for children, and they come in different colors, materials and price ranges. The brands that you can typically find products from in our range are Filibaba, Cocoon Company, Müsli and Konges Sløjd. The materials used for the bed bumpers we sell are free of unnecessary chemicals and are organic.
What types of bed bumpers can you get?
We do our best to always have a suitable selection of bed bumpers. Therefore, you can expect to find bed bumpers for cradles, cribs and junior beds. Whether the individual bed bumper fits a junior bed, crib or cradle, you will often be able to see when you click on the individual product. In some cases, the use of the bed bumper is mentioned in the product title, and in that case it will say, for example, 'bed bumper for cradle'. The larger your child's bed is, the larger a bed bumper you will probably need.
How long should children sleep with a bed bumper?
No matter how old your child is, it can be beneficial to choose a good bed bumper for your child. Even if your child has not yet learned to walk or crawl when it is in its cradle, it can still move, and if the child is very active, it can manage to turn around, so it can roll into the bed edge. Therefore, it is a good idea to be well covered, so you pad the inside of your child's bed. Then there is less risk of your child getting hurt. The older a child is, the greater the risk that the child will tumble around in its bed. So to protect your child as much as possible, a bed bumper for both junior beds, cribs and cradles is a good choice.
What does a bed bumper cost?
A children's bed bumper is nice to have, and since they can vary a lot in price, it can be tempting to buy the cheapest one you can find. However, it is advantageous to think about things such as materials, comfort and design before you buy a cheap item, as the more expensive models are often of a higher quality with a focus on organic materials. A children's bed bumper is, in most cases, a one-time investment, so even if an item is not on sale, it may be a good idea to buy it right away. However, we do have offers on children's bed bumpers from time to time, and you will easily be able to see any sale items in an easy way by choosing the sorting 'Best offer'.
How do you wash the bed bumper?
Bed bumpers are most often equipped with a zipper on the side, which allows you to unzip the cover and wash it. You can wash the cover in the washing machine at 30 or 40 degrees - preferably not more than 40, as it can cause the cover to shrink. If the cover shrinks, you risk that it no longer fits the bed bumper.
A bed bumper creates security
Our adorable, small babies love to be cuddled, swaddled and feel enveloped in a safe "cave". They are used to the narrow confines of the womb, so even a cradle can seem large and overwhelming. A bed bumper is recommended for this reason. If you want to create a cozy cave atmosphere, we also recommend adding a bed canopy, a cradle and a baby blanket.
The bed bumper is placed on the inside of the crib and is used to protect your child while it sleeps. It prevents their arms and legs from getting stuck between the bars, and also serves as a safety measure.
The right bed bumper for a crib
With the large selection of brands and variants on the market, it can be an overwhelming task to choose the right bed bumper - especially for first-time parents. The models vary in shape, color, pattern, thickness and filling.
Traditional models that fit standard beds usually measure 60 cm in height, 120 cm in length and have a thickness of +/- 4 cm. The advantage of a thick model is that it can stand alone, and no matter how your child turns and tosses during sleep, the mattress remains soft and gentle. Another advantage is that you do not need to button or tie the bed frame around the child's bed - and junior will not be able to loosen it!
Maintenance of bed bumper, crib or not
It is easy to maintain your bed bumper. Most models have a zipper on the cover, so you can quickly and easily take it off and throw it in the washing machine.
It is important to note that you should not wash your junior's bed bumper cover at 60 degrees - it will be quite a task to get it back on as it shrinks. A wash at 30-40 degrees is best. If you choose to wash at higher temperatures, there is a possibility that it can shrink and no longer fit well to the filling. Even if you have washed correctly at 30-40 degrees, it can still be difficult to put the cover back on, so make sure to have allocated plenty of time and energy - everything will be fine in the end! Alternatively, you can invest in an extra cover or two, so you do not have to wash immediately.
It is recommended that you wash the cover and air the contents as needed, or at least once a month. When your infant sleeps, it will often lie with its head pressed against the bed edge, making it more exposed to dirt and other things than you might think.
Bed bumper boy or girl - is there a difference?
When you are choosing your bed bumper, there is no difference whether you have a boy or girl. As long as you choose a bed bumper that fits in size to the baby and the baby bed, everything is as it should be. Having said that, there are of course different colors and patterns that you can choose from as a parent. You may want a bed bumper in orange or with flowers on.
A bed canopy can give parents peace of mind if their child is an adventurous sleeper. If your little child tends to fall out of bed or go exploring after bedtime, you can help keep them in check by installing a bed canopy - making the transition to a big child's bed much easier in the process. It can also be an extra measure to the use of a bed bumper, so the bed becomes extra safe and "cave-like".
