Leander shares Naturebaby's visions of a greener and more sustainable future, which is also reflected in the materials they use in production. Wood from responsible forestry, leather, and organic cotton are all key materials in Leander's production. It is clear that the passion for babies and their development permeates Leander's entire universe, where the best physical conditions for creativity, play, and development are created. The intention from the beginning has been for the products to make a difference. A difference for both children and their parents, where the products can inspire play and at the same time help alleviate the pressure of everyday life. High functionality is indeed one of the main requirements for the products that Leander produces.
The story of Leander
Leander was founded in 1998 by a man named Stig Leander. Stig got the idea to design a cradle when his sister-in-law was expecting twins. Because with two children instead of one, greater demands are placed on the abilities of the mother and father to be in two places at once. So could a cradle be built that could soothe one child while the mother breastfeeds the other?
By virtue of his education as a blacksmith, Stig had experience working creatively, including the development of prams, bicycles, and chairs. Stig's starting point was that the cradle should first and foremost be simple and functional, and that it should make a difference. It should be able to do something new, it should do something different from the cradles that were already on the market. Both form and function should be different.
Less than a year later, the Leander Classic cradle was already available in the country's leading specialty stores, and today Leander is sold in more than 30 countries. The headquarters are located in Silkeborg, while production is carried out in a number of different European countries. Stig's eye for form and function is truly exceptional, and with his ever-curious approach to craftsmanship, the portfolio of products expands year by year. Good craftsmanship is clearly at the center of Leander, and it challenges the ''use and throw away culture''. Because when you buy Leander, you are not just investing in furniture for one child. It can easily be passed down or resold when it is no longer needed - because the quality can withstand it.
To this day, it is still Stig who is behind the design of all the furniture from Leander. Without the help of a computer, notebook, or paper, Stig dives into designing new, functional furniture that can contribute to an easier and better everyday life with children. With materials such as glue, cardboard, string, and wood, Stig shapes his future furniture until it feels right. The starting point is the child or the adult who will ultimately use the furniture. What are their needs, and how can the furniture meet those needs? By putting himself in the user's place, Stig manages to find the golden point between functionality and design, which becomes the Leander products that we know today.
Product series from Leander
Leander has created a range of product series aimed at making everyday life a little easier for parents of young children. The series each have their own characteristics. But what they all have in common is that the products are produced in a quality that allows and encourages them to be passed down through multiple generations.
Leander Classic
The Leander Classic series is characterized by its distinctive, elegant curves and rounded corners. The series includes a cradle, baby bed, baby-junior bed, wardrobe, dresser, and high chair. The classic design is clearly evident throughout all the products in the series, and they complement each other extremely well in the nursery. The carefully selected and solid materials, combined with the beautiful design, ensure the best environment for babies and children.
Leander Linea
The products in the Leander Linea series are characterized by a more sophisticated, modern style designed to go hand in hand with urban lifestyles. The series includes a baby bed, changing table, and dresser. If you want a cutting-edge and stylish design, the products from the Linea series are definitely for you.
Leander Matty - With the popular Leander changing pad
The Leander Matty series includes the award-winning and now iconic Leander changing pad. With its distinctive high sides, which ensure that the baby does not roll over the edge, combined with the water-repellent surface without softening substances, you get a completely unique changing pad of absolute top quality. The changing pad has set a whole new standard when it comes to the modern changing area and is available in a range of beautiful, muted colors.
Leander Luna
The Leander Luna series includes a baby bed, dresser, and wardrobe - designed in solid oak and lacquered beech. The style is classic Nordic, combined with a light and almost ''floating'' element, which gives the series a completely unique expression. The products are available in white or gray and fit into most homes.
Leander Wally
In the Leander Wally series, aesthetics and design truly meet functionality and quality. Wally is a wall-mounted changing table made of certified PUR foam here in Europe. Wally is super soft and warm and is extremely easy to clean as it is both water and alcohol resistant. A super practical and innovative changing table that creates the perfect environment for a cozy changing time.
Another popular item - Leander cradle
It is not only the iconic Matty changing pad from Leander that has become a hit in many families with young children. The cradle from the Leander Classic series is also a product that many have come to love. The cradle does not resemble a classic cradle, as it is designed to be hung from the ceiling. You can also purchase a three-legged stand from which the cradle can be hung. This cradle is primarily recommended for children aged 0 to 6 months, and with the stand, you have the option to move the cradle around the home as needed. The stand is also collapsible, so you can take the cradle with you if you are staying overnight somewhere else - or if the baby needs a nap in the middle of the day.
